Zelkova schneideriana

Schneider Zelkova

Schneider Zelkova (Zelkova Schneideriana) is a deciduous tree that tapers to a vase-like form as it matures. This tree will reach as tall as 80 feet with a spread of up to 70 feet, and grows best in full sun and moist, well-drained soil. The leaves of Schneider Zelkova are a pointed oval with jagged edges, shading from green in the summer to a deep red in fall. This species is native to a range from Europe to parts of Asia, with this particular tree originating in China. The wood is exceptionally durable and has been used in furniture manufacturing.
