Agave shawii ssp. goldmaniana

Century Plant

Century Plant (Agave shawii ssp. goldmaniana) is a succulent plant native to North America. This desert loving perennial grows with a rounded habit, producing narrow spears of thick green leaves with toothy margins and spiny tips. Blooming occurs after several years of growth, with clusters of yellow flowers appearing from September to May atop a stalk that reaches up to 15 feet tall. Also known as Mescal or Goldman's Agave, Century Plant thrives in full sun to partial shade and dry soil. Agaves were one of the most abundant food sources on the Baja Peninsula during the pre-Columbian era.
