Ajuga reptans 'Mahogany'

Bugleweed (Ajuga reptans 'Mahogany') is a flowering perennial known for its attractive burgundy leaves. It thrives in full sun to partial shade, reaching only about 4 inches tall but forming a groundcovering mat as wide as 2 feet or more. The tiny, narrow, burgundy-black leaves emerge in spring and mature to a deep mahogany color. Also known as Carpet Bugle, it blooms in late spring with showy blue flowers that rise above the foliage on stalks up to 8 inches tall. Bugleweed can become invasive in some areas.
