Common Bear's Breeches, Oyster Plant

Bear's Breeches (Acanthus mollis 'Fielding Gold') is a flowering, semi-evergreen perennial. The leaves are large and broad with deep, irregular lobes, changing in color from bright yellow when young to a deeper green as they mature. Also known as Oyster Plant, it grows with an upright habit, spreading to form clumps up to 2 feet wide and blooming from late spring to summer with stalks of white and purble flowers reaching up to 3 feet tall. Bear's Breeches grows well in partial shade to full sun and moist soils, and may become invasive in some areas.
